Abo Qosay, Nosaiba, Um Hassan and Ahmad are all Syrian refugees, having sought shelter in Lebanon around 10 years ago – specifically in Akkar, the poorest region in the Mediterranean and one with the highest proportion of refugees. Working with a small charity called ‘Mishwar’ with a somewhat unique working method – empowering locals to support their own communities. Each character tells their own stories of how they got there, their struggles and their hopes for the future. Themes touched upon include torture, war, imprisonment, community action, human rights, justice, women and men’s conditions.
